Appearance: The harpsichord looks much like a small piano, except that rather than the strings being struck by hammers as in the modern piano, they are plucked by a small plectrum. There are commonly two strings per key, controlled by a series of hand stops above the keyboard. Some harpsichords had two sets of keyboards, one above the other, with three sets of strings. | ||||
