Cu-Chi Tunnels

The Cu-Chi tunnels were used by the Vietcong as a shelter for their army and to make surprise guerilla attacks.  There are more than 200 miles of tunnels, between 0.5 to 1 m wide, stretching to Saigon and into some American bases.  The entrances are camouflaged trap doors. Kitchens, hospitals, living and stories areas, and munitions factories were kept several stories deep. The roof was 10 to 13 feet thick, able to withstand the weight of a 60 ton tank and the impact of 100kg bombs.
