Trebuchet
- In Redwall: N/A
- Origin: Europe
- Time Period: 12th century
- Description: The trebuchet was an advanced catapult - a very
large catapult. It used counterbalances to fire its missile.
It had one large arm, on which hung a sling, where the missile was placed.
- Use: A missile, usually a rock, is placed in the sling.
Once wound down a rope is passed over the throwing arm
from one of the longitudinal sill beams to the other. It is secured by hooking
onto a pin located through the beam. The winch rope is then unhooked. Removal
of the trigger pin releases the throwing arm.
