Siege Tower
- In Redwall: Cluny the Scourge used a siege tower- unsuccessfully,
however.
- Origin: Europe
- Time Period: Middle Ages
- Description: Scaffolding on wheels that housed troops and archers.
Contained makeshift drops and bridges. Siege towers were slow and
cumbersome, and ineffective unless used in large numbers, as they were
normally met by flaming arrows.
- Use: Siege towers were pushed against castle walls, and makeshift
drops and bridges were dropped so that soldiers and archers could enter the
castle. Usually they were burned up by fire arrows before they even
reached the castle.
