Francisca Axe
- Names: throwing axe; frakki
- In Redwall: N/A
- Origin: France
- Time Period: 6 - 8th century
- Description: A throwing axe
that consists of a socketed, angled iron head attached to a wooden haft, which
was usually around 18 inches long.
- Use: The Francisca axe was often
hurled at an enemy and then the wielder would charge in with a sword or spear.
Its range was about 15 meters when thrown. It could also (obviously) be
used as a hand-to-hand weapon. The barbaric Frank tribes were very fond
of this weapon, and it's perhaps the francisca that France gets its name from.
