- Origin: Egypt
- Description:
Ancient Egyptian bronze
sword with a sickle-like blade; consists of a heavily curved single-edged blade
which widens at the tip. However, it could also be edged on both sides.
Mostly it was edged either on the inside curve or the outer curve.
- Use: The sappara was difficult to
use for thrusting, due to its shape, and was so used instead for slicing.
An outside-edged kopsh was effective for slashing an opponent, while a kopsh
with an inside edge was normally used to hack at the foe.
