Boomerang
- Names: throwing wood, throwing stick, clava, cateia, caia,
killer-stick; dolak; kerrie
- In Redwall: N/A
- Origin: Australia; other forms have been found almost all over the
world
- Time Period: Unknown
- Description:
Wooden throwing stick with an effective
range of about 20 meters. Throwing sticks are usually sharpened at one
end and make dangerous weapons; boomerangs are normally used for sport and
playing only. The throwing stick is simply a stick honed to have
a cross-section similar to a modern day airfoil. This stick actually flew
through the air at high speeds. It was given a rotation at launch for
stability and could be thrown very far and very fast.
- Use: Usually the boomerang is thrown, and it rotates in the air
until it hits its target, but it can sometimes be used as a club. Only
the kind that returns to the thrower is called the boomerang- the kinds that
do not are called throwing sticks.
